Meet the REAL Alex!
Alex is considered mentally-retarded and has ADHD. He is a quandary of other conditions which we struggle with daily. Both he and his brother suffer from Reactive Attachment Disorder from lack of contact with people in infancy. We have been told not to expect Alex to be independent as an adult.
Despite all the baggage he came to us with and the daily struggles, we could not imagine life without him. He is EXTREMELY loving and always eager to please! He loves sweeping and vacuuming and he even scrapbooks with mommy! He tries very hard to be creative despite his limitations.
We love our trips to his doctor because it is a two-hour drive through the countryside. We get to talk and have lunch together. We love this special time for just him and me. He looks forward to it and so do I. We try to always get ice cream! It makes him feel special to do this with just me.
We are working very hard to get answers for all of Alex's medical and emotional conditions. I know I have learned a lot about the public school system while trying to make sure he has everything in place to help him be successful. It's not always the answer I want, but that's because I want a miracle and they are not miracle-workers!
I love this boy, without question. He is my son and I rarely think of him as adopted. Sometimes I find myself wondering why I can't remember how much he weighed when he was born. And then I remember it is because I wasn't there! Adopting Alex is by far, one of the best life decisions we have made, difficult or not.
We love you Alex!

Couture
I used the base paper of the tag as inspiration. I used the large Michael stamp, which will be released July 1st. I thought it felt very 'runway'. Inside the frame, I used a piece of microfiche that had some magazine covers. I love the green pop of color from his hat! The Michael stamp is going to come with 4 hats to chose from! This will be my first stamp set!!Monday, June 16, 2014

Time Flies!!!
Wow!! Time has flown by this month!! It doesn't seem possible that it is already the 13th!!
Well, that means two things are coming your way! Number 1, you get to see the next stamp in the lineup! Number 2, you get to hear a little about the one following him!
First things first!!
Meet MICHAEL!! He is going to be released right around July 4th. I was a little behind schedule this month. As you can see, he is casually dressed AND comes with 4 different hats!! Let me tell you, I have had a blast putting the different hats on him!! I loved paper dolls when I was little and this brought all those memories flooding back in!
I look forward to hearing how you like this stamp SET!! The best part is you will only be paying one dollar more for four times the fun!!!
Isn't he awesome???
Ok, so then, the one that comes out in August will be Jeremiah. He is going to be dressed in a tank top and jeans!! He will be usable as an African-American and will also have at least one accessory with him! So, stay tuned!!
You guys are awesome!!

Meet my inspiration!!!
Today is National Down Syndrome Day!!!!
In honor of this very special day, I thought I would introduce you to the inspiration behind the "Andrew" stamp!!!
This is my son, he will be a teenager in June!! Wow!!
I was 37 when I got pregnant with Andrew. Though all my previous pregnancies were considered high risk--solely based on my advanced maternal age--my entire pregnancy with him was perfectly normal. I even had an AFP test done and it came back NORMAL!! Ultrasounds were all normal.
When I was giving birth, my husband noticed that Andrew's face had features of Down's Syndrome, but said nothing and tried to enjoy the experience. When I got to hold him, Andrew was very lethargic. But in my joy, I noticed nothing unusual. I asked my husband to take him to the nursery after half an hour and he was eager to do so, he wanted to ask the pediatrician about his son.
When my husband found the pediatrician, he asked point blank, "Does my son have Down's Syndrome?" At first, the doctor didn't want to give a definite answer but eventually said "Yes, I am 99% sure that he does." My husband's heart ached for his son. He asked the pediatrician to come with him so that he could break the news to me. He brought the baby's godparents with him as well, telling them out in the hallway before they came in to break the news to me. They all cried and hugged, they were sure I would be devastated.
What my husband and friends could not know, was that when they took the baby to the nursery, I was alone and exhausted. I laid my head back and said a simple Thank you to my heavenly Father for such a beautiful little boy. It was then that I heard a nearly audible voice. It was my heavenly Father speaking in such clarity, it was unmistakable. "Your son has Down Syndrome, but he will be fine, I am looking after him." I closed my eyes and said, "Thank you."
When my husband returned from taking Andrew to the nursery, he came in with the godparents, the midwife who had delivered the baby, and the pediatrician. They all looked at me with very solemn faces.
I asked how Andrew was doing because he seemed so lethargic and sleepy. That was when the pediatrician spoke up. "He is doing fine, he is sleepy, but that happens sometimes after delivery. But we did find something that we wanted to talk to you about. We are pretty sure the baby has Down's syndrome." Everyone in the room seemed to hold their breath. They looked at me, waiting for me to fall apart so they could be my support.
I looked at the pediatrician and said, "Ok." Now everyone in the room looked at each other with a curious look. Perhaps I missed it. Perhaps I didn't understand what he had just said.
In fact, the pediatrician said "No, I don't think you understand. We think your baby has Down's syndrome. Do you know what that is?"
I said "Yes, I know what that is. And what you don't understand is, that is my child. I am in love with him already and it doesn't matter what it is, I still love him completely. God gave us this VERY special gift and I am honored to be his mother, no matter what!!!"
My husband and the godparents suddenly stopped crying and looked at me in disbelief. Fully understanding what I was saying but still shocked at how accepting I was of his condition.
Understand, very few parents have that kind of immediate reaction to the news that their child has been born with Down Syndrome and that is ok. I understand the need for some people to grieve when they hear the news. That just wasn't necessary for me. I've always believed God gives very special children to very special people. I am still honored to be one of those people!!!

In Production NOW!
Wow!!!
We are getting really great feed back from everyone who has ordered Andrew so far!! A lot of excitement is being generated by the individuals who are purchasing him on the FaceBook selling sites.
Scrapsalot has gotten their first shipment of stamps in and are very excited to have such a unique stamp available to their customers.
IN PRODUCTION NOW!!!
The small version of Andrew and Charlie are now in production!! The packaging inserts had to be redesigned a bit to accommodate the size restrictions, so look for the green, swirly tree to be on this package. Both stamps are approximately 3.5 inches tall and no more than 1.25 inches wide!! We decided to produce this size for one main reason: YOU ASKED FOR IT!! While in Tennessee, I held a couple of small focus groups to introduce the stamps and get feedback. Everyone loved the stamps in the large size and are excited to buy them, but they also wanted a more compact design that would fit onto cards and smaller projects. So, we are producing smaller versions of each large stamp we release!!
The small versions of Andrew and Charlie should be ready for release by the first week of April, so come back often for the announcement!!!
Charlie's debut will be in the (approx.) 3.5 inch size, with the large size to follow in May.
Andrew will be available in the new 3.5 inch size in the first week of April!!
Keep coming back often to see what is coming up!!
I would also love to see what you are making with the stamps, so drop me an email with a photo!!

And so it BEGINS!
Welcome to C Thru the Woods blog!!
This blog is being created to showcase brand new and VERY EXCITING stamps that are being created by Charlene Woods.
I am a mother of 4 boys who is always on the lookout for boy-related products. The problem I found is that many of the boy products on the market are toddler-aged representatives and very immature looking. Two of my boys are teens now and I really wanted stamps that would reflect a more grown-up or sophisticated product that I could use. As always, the stamps would have to be able to be used in a variety of ways, making them more cost effective.
I've always been involved in arts. Whether I was crafting, scrapbooking, card making, atc making, painting, drawing, art journaling, photographing and most recently, mixed media. I began to draw my children into my art journals last year and discovered I really liked the images I was creating. Intrigued, I began to investigate the possibility of creating my own stamp line.
And Today marks a whole new beginning in the pursuit of this dream.
Today it begins as a business to showcase, market and sell my dreams. You will be with me on the journey as I roll out at least 8 boy stamps this year, with many more to follow I hope!
Thank you for being part of my dream!
